Breaking Ground on the New Kitchen and Patio
Foundations, utilities and footers are going in for The Square Cafe's new kitchen building and outdoor patio next to 13 East Market Street.

It’s official: We have officially broken ground at 15 East Market Street for the new outdoor patio and kitchen!
With most of the remodel work next door at 13 East Market Street now complete, our construction crews have shifted their full focus to this exciting new build. It may still look a little rough out there, but if you look closely, you can start to see the outline of the new building and get a glimpse of what’s to come.
Digging In: Foundation & Infrastructure
There has been a flurry of activity on-site over the last couple of weeks as we tackle the essential groundwork:
- Underground Work: Excavators have been busy digging the new foundations and installing all of the critical new infrastructure, including water, sewer, and stormwater management systems.
- Grading: Final grading of the site is currently being completed to prepare the land for the next phases.
- Pouring the Base: Our concrete crews have been hard at work pumping and finishing the concrete for the foundation footers and walls.
This early stage of the project is absolutely crucial. It takes immense planning and hard work to make sure every utility, pipe, and footer is exactly where it needs to be to support the new building.
What’s Next
Over the next few weeks, things will really start to take shape! As the new building and patio begin to rise from the ground, it will become much easier to visualize the final design. We are incredibly excited to watch this brand-new chapter of the project come to life—stay tuned for more updates as the structure begins to go up!
