Solar Power at Monument Square Center

To show a commitment to sustainability and reduce energy costs, Monument Square Center LLC completed a new high-efficiency solar photovoltaic (PV) system at 3 West Monument Square. The 29-kilowatt SunPower® Helix™ system generates about as much electricity as almost three average homes use in a year.

The system was expected to produce 33,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean energy in its first year, about 30 percent of the electricity used at Monument Square Center. Over 25 years, it is expected to offset more than 700 tons of carbon dioxide, the equivalent of planting 17,000 trees or saving 72,000 gallons of gasoline.

Sun Directed, a residential and commercial solar installer in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, and an authorized SunPower® dealer, installed the system from February 17 to March 5, 2017. Robert P. Lepley, Electrical Contractor, completed the meter and major electrical work.
